Adolphus Wabara, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees (BoT), has advised members to refrain from making provocative statements on the ongoing presidential election case.

Wabara spoke on Thursday while addressing members of the BoT in a meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

“I appeal to all members of the BOT to refrain from making provocative and incisive public statements about the ongoing presidential election case and the party as we seek justice at the supreme court,” he said.

Last week, the presidential election tribunal struck out the various petitions filed by the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election.

In a unanimous decision, the five justices led by Haruna Tsammani, held that Abubakar was unable to prove claims of vote rigging and irregularities.

The tribunal also ruled that Abubakar failed to prove that Tinubu should have been disqualified from contesting the election on account of a $460,000 forfeiture to the US government, after a Chicago court found that the money was the proceeds of heroin trafficking.

However, the PDP and Abubakar rejected the verdict of the tribunal.

The former vice-president said even though he respects the judgment of the court, he does not accept it because it failed to restore confidence in the electoral process.
