Waterlight Save Initiative donates to homeless veterans

Waterlight Save Initiative, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has organised an outreach campaign, providing much-needed support to homeless veterans in Atlanta, Georgia.

The outreach, which focused on feeding and assisting veterans, aligns with the organisation’s broader mission of alleviating poverty, improving quality of life, and fostering social interventions.

Ero Ibhafidon, president and founder of the Waterlight Save Initiative, speaking during the outreach, emphasised the significant challenges many veterans face after their service, including homelessness, unemployment, and inadequate healthcare.

“Veterans have sacrificed so much for the nation, yet many struggle with reintegration into society, through this initiative, we aim to provide essential resources and support to help them regain stability,” Ibhafidon said.

Ibhafidon listed the campaign’s primary objectives:

  1. Providing Safe Housing: Ensuring veterans have access to stable and secure shelter.
  2. Improving Healthcare Access: Addressing physical and mental health challenges, including Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse recovery.
  3. Enhancing Economic Opportunities: Connecting veterans with job opportunities, skill development, and entrepreneurship programs.
  4. Advocating for Policy Change: Partnering with government agencies and organisations to create sustainable solutions for veterans.

The outreach event saw a strong turnout of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners, who worked together to distribute food, clothing, medical care, and housing assistance to veterans in need.

Ibhafidon added that the initiative reaffirms the organisation’s commitment to giving back to those who have bravely served our nation.

Bill Hughes, head of veteran affairs, and several VA team members, commended the initiative and reiterated their support for collaborative efforts to address veterans’ needs.

The organisation extended its heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the outreach, their support made a tangible difference in the lives of many veterans, helping to restore hope and dignity to those who served.
