Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated the Central African Republic (CAR) in their second meeting in days to take control of their group in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying series.
The Nigerian senior national team posted a 2-0 win against CAR in the thrilling encounter that was played at the Stade Japoma in Douala, Cameroon on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen, as well as an excellent performance from Chidozie Awaziem saw the Eagles top the log with nine points, five ahead of Cape Verde — who have a game in hand against Liberia later today.
Nigeria started strongly and almost forced a goal in the opening minutes, with Osimhen causing problems.

CAR slowly settled into the game and began to threaten on transition, but the trio of Awaziem, Balogun, and William Troost-Ekong remained resolute.
The visiting team struck the opening goal in the 29th minute as a long thrust by Awaziem was fired home by the overlapping Balogun into the net.
It was another jubilation for the Eagles just before halftime as Troost-Ekong located Osimhen who showed gratitude with a quality strike to score the second goal of the game.
