Peter Obi, vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described the supplementary poll that held in Kano state as a dangerous precedent for Nigeria.
In a statement on Monday, Obi said what happened in the state amounted to giving the youths licence to perpetrate violence.
“We are now institutionalising thuggery and rigging as process of coming into power which is very dangerous precedents for our country,” he said.
“Proceeds in the name of results from what happened in Kano make the entire electoral process ridiculous and shameful.

“We are dangerously bequeathing to this society a trend that is bound to consume not only our youths but the entire country.”
He accused the police of aiding the deployment of thugs whom he said made life difficult for the electorate, noting that the security agents owe the nation some explanations.
“They owe Nigerians and election observers a lot of explanations on what happened,” Obi said.

He also questioned the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for “being quick to acknowledge election result from where miscreants took charge of the process”.
“If India with over 800 million voters can conduct election without losing such calibre of people, if President Buhari and APC could come into power in 2015 without such senseless loss of lives, why should this be the case now?” he asked.
