A group known as the Nasarawa State Progressive Stakeholders says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should remove Uthman Ajidagba, Nasarawa resident electoral commissioner (REC), from the state.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Manga David Ugbo, spokesperson of the group, said they do not believe that credible elections would be conducted under the watch of Ajidagba.
The spokesperson said the alleged “unholy romance” between some Nasarawa government officials and some staff of INEC must be stopped if the state would have credible elections.
“We dare to say Nasarawa state is a multi-religious, and multi-ethnic community which have co-existed with each other since time immemorial. We, therefore, say no to religious sentiments and politics ” he said.

“We call for his immediate removal as Nasarawa state electoral commissioner as we have lost confidence in his credibility to conduct free, fair, credible, and transparent elections in the state.
“We also call on the inspector-general of police and other security agencies to ensure more deployment of security men to Nasarawa state on election duty with a view to ensuring peaceful election in the state during and after the election as the governor’s defeat is sacrosanct.”
