The PDP in Edo says it will not impose candidates in the forthcoming party primary, ahead of the governorship election.

Chris Enehikhare, the party’s publicity secretary, gave the assurance in an interview with NAN on Thursday.

Some party members recently alleged that the party was planning to skew the process in favour of one of the aspirants and threatened to resist such move.

But Enekikhare denied the allegation, saying: “The party has no intention to impose any candidate on the people at all.

“The party leadership has not contemplated and does not hope to consider it at all.

“What we have done is to ask all the aspirants to undertake to sign a code of conduct document that will compel them to support whoever emerges from the primary.”

He assured all aspirants and party members that the leadership would provide a level playing field for all contestants.
