Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti, has asked political appointees in the state to wear face masks in public to avoid being sanctioned.

The governor made the call in the wake of a possible second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

In a circular addressed to all political appointees and signed by Biodun Oyebanji, secretary to the state government, appointed officials were accused of violating the COVID-19 regulations.

“Despite the common knowledge about the presence and resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic, it has been observed that government officials have largely become complacent about these realities through disregard for necessary preventive measures,” the circular read.
