Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi, says his administration is taking steps to crush bandits and their merchants in the state.
Mohammed spoke on Thursday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 2.1-kilometre Rimi-Zayam township road in Toro LGA of the state.
The governor said his administration is focused on Toro LGA due to the infiltration by “outsiders committing serious crimes” in the area.
“We have brought security by the grace of Allah, together with our traditional rulers in the state. By the grace of Allah, it is not with pride that we have been able to do it,” he said.

“Those people that are importing bandits because they are merchants of bandits and they have just been given space to occupy in Toro LGA, let them not come and bring back bandits.”
Mohammed assured the public that his administration is dealing “decisively” with the situation and “closing in on the criminal actors”.
The governor added that the bandits would face the full consequences of their actions if they were apprehended and reassured the people of Toro that he would always remember their support.

“I’m telling you; we are dealing with them decisively, and even those merchants of bandits, we are closing on them,” he said.
“When we get them, they will know the full weight of Kauran Bauchi,” he added, stressing that security has always been his top priority as it is essential for development.
“That is why there is no limit that I will not go to ensure that I do so many projects and programmes in Toro.
“I assure you, in whatever position I find myself, because of what you have done for me, I’ll never forget the people of Toro.”
