We’ll have no choice but to destroy North Korea, says Trump

President Donald Trump says if forced to defend itself and its allies against nuclear weapons test, America will have no choice but to “totally destroy” North Korea.

North Korea has continued to fire ballistic missiles despite warnings from the UN.

One of its recent successful tests was on a hydrogen bomb which is said to be 10 times deadlier than the atomic bomb.

Speaking at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump allayed fears of “unthinkable loss of lives” that could come from the country’s nuclear tests.

“If the US is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” he said.

He said it is against the interest of the entire world for North Korea — a “band of criminals” — to obtain missiles and nuclear weapons.

Trump called on UN member countries to work together to confront “rogue regimes” in reference to the government of Kim Jong Un, North Korean leader.

He added that Un, whom he described as a “rocket man”, is on a suicide mission for himself.

“If the righteous many do not confront the wicked few, then evil will triumph,” he said.

“All responsible leaders have an obligation to serve their own citizens. Our government’s first duty is to its people.

“In foreign affairs, we are renewing this founding principle of sovereignty. As president, I will always put America first, just like you as the leaders of your countries will always — and should always — put your countries first.”

He added: “It is an eternal credit to the American character, that we have fought wars abroad but have not sought territorial expansion” and not imposed our way of life on other people.

“We want harmony and friendship, not conflict and strife.”
