We’ll soon become a fully registered party, says ANN

The Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) says its registration process at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reached an advanced stage.

The group called on professionals and technocrats across all disciplines in the “political landscape of Nigeria” to join the party.

Onome Ojigbo, state coordinator of the group in Lagos, told journalists on Saturday that ANN had been reaching out to many prominent professionals.

“We have been holding series of meetings with many top professionals and technocrats across the country and I can assure you we are achieving results” Ojigbo, an IT consultant, said.

“You would be surprised at the number of Nigerians who have made giants strides in their chosen professions but are hardly seen or heard having anything to do with politics. They are many like that across the country.

“And as we said in our mission statement at the onset, it is these people we are trying to rally together to get them involved in the political process.”

Ojigbo said statistics have shown that it is not that the professionals and technocrats hate politics but consider politics, especially in Nigeria, to be dirty,

He added that the group was happy that many of the professionals have been identifying with it.

“We have been making progress in our consultations with these professionals and technocrats,” Ojigbo explained.

“The only thing is that many of those who have promised to sign in would rather we keep their identities under the wraps for now and which we agree with for strategic reasons.”
