‘We’ll stand by his family’ — Alex Otti condemns murder of LP chieftain

Alex Otti, the governor of Abia, has condemned the killing of Zachary Nmaduka, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), in Uturu of Isuikwuato LGA of the state.

On Wednesday, the police found the lifeless body of Nmaduka at his neighbourhood in Abia state.

The police said the 70-year-old was “violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants”.

In a statement by Ferdinand Ekeoma, his aide, on Friday, Otti described the murder of Nmaduka as “insane, barbaric and vicious”.

The Abia governor asked security agencies to commence investigations and ensure that the killers “pay heavily for their ungodly action”.

He added that Nmaduka, who was the LP campaign manager in Uturu, was not allowed to reap the benefits of good governance by his killers.

“Finally, the state chief executive restated his commitment to ensuring absolute protection of life and property in Abia state in particular and south-east in general,” the statement reads.

“This necessitated the recent launch of a joint security taskforce codenamed ‘Operation Crush’, an initiative which has caused serious reduction in all kinds of criminal activities.”

Otti promised that his administration “would stand by his family and give them all the necessary support required”.
