Former US President Donald Trump says the Republican party will soon take control of the house of representatives and senate.
Trump spoke at a rally in Ohio while campaigning for Republican candidates ahead of the 2022 US elections.
The former president’s presence at the campaign marks Trump’s first rally since his exit from the White House following his defeat to US President Joe Biden at the 2020 election.
The US midterm elections is scheduled for November 8, 2022.

During the polls, all 435 seats in the house of representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the senate will be contested.
Trump described the event which held at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington, about a half-hour southwest of Cleveland, as “the very first rally of the 2022 election”.
“We will take back the house, we will take back the senate, and we will take back America, and we will do it soon,” he said.

Trump’s political action committee, the Save America PAC, said the Ohio rally would be the first of many appearances in support of Republican candidates.
Trump is expected to build on the rally by taking a trip to the US-Mexico border with Greg Abbott, Texas governor, on June 30 and attend another rally in Sarasota, Florida, on July 3.
The former US president also hinted that he might run for presidency in 2024.
Trump alleged that he won the election in 2020 — a claim identified as false — but added that there is high possibility for a third win.

“We won the election twice and it’s possible we’ll have to win it a third time. It’s possible,” he said.
