President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Super Falcons after the team defeated South Korea at the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup on Wednesday.
The Falcons put up a much improved performance in Grenoble after suffering a crushing 3-0 loss to Norway in their group A opener on Saturday in Reims.
Buhari took to his personal Twitter account to inform the ladies that he watched how they got their Women’s World Cup campaign back on track with a 2-0 victory over South Korea.
He lauded the team and coaching crew for the “well-deserved win” in honour of the country “on a very special day”, and further said he was “proud of them”.

“I’m pleased I was able to watch the Super Falcons match against South Korea, after the Democracy Day Lunch. Congratulations to the Team and Coaching Crew. A well-deserved win on a very special day for Nigeria. We are all proud of your victory,” Buhari wrote.

Having secured 3 points, the nine-time African champions will now look to get something from the final fixture in group A against France, the host, on June 17.
A draw or win will see the Falcons through to the knock-out stage at the World Cup.
