The Oyo government says it has not decided on any new salary structure for civil servants in the state, contrary to a viral claim on social media.

There has been a viral structure, titled “Oyo state service state civil service salary structure and allowance 2023”, which shows that civil servants in grade one should expect between N58,200 and N77,045 each month.

The purported structure listed the salary range for each grade, noting that “Oyo state government believes other south-western states will emulate this uncommon gesture to her works”.

Reacting to the development on Wednesday, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, chief press secretary to the governor of Oyo, said the state has set up a committee to review the salary structure.

“The salary structure being circulated in the public sphere could not have emanated from the state government and should be disregarded in its entirety,’’ Olanrewaju said.

Following the removal of the petrol subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, the state government set up a committee to produce a new salary structure for civil servants to reflect emerging realities.

The committee has representatives of the National Labour Congress (NLC), the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and government officials as members.

The government had given the committee eight weeks to complete the assignment.
