West Africa records 3,796 COVID-19 cases, 96 deaths

West Africa has recorded a total of 3,796 COVID-19 cases and 96 deaths across 15 countries.

This is according to the data obtained from the West African Health Organisation (WAHO).

On Tuesday, the report on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) regional update showed that about 802 people have recovered from the disease, with 2,895 active cases across the region.

With 638 patients, Cote d’Ivoire has the highest number of confirmed cases in the region, six deaths while 114 patients have recovered.

Ghana comes second with 636 cases, eights deaths and 17 recoveries. Niger has 570 cases, 90 recoveries and 14 deaths.

In Burkina Faso, there are 528 confirmed cases, 177 recoveries and 30 deaths. The cases in Nigeria is 373 with 99 recoveries and 11 deaths.

Guinea has 363 cases, 31 recoveries and no death has been recorded so far. Same goes for Guinea-Bissau with 43 cases, no recoveries or death yet. Sierra-Leone too with 11 cases has recorded no recoveries or death.

Cape Verde has 11 confirmed cases with one recovery and one death. Senegal has recorded 299 cases, 183 recoveries and two deaths.

Benin Republic has 35 cases with 18 recoveries and one death. The Gambia has nine cases, two recoveries and one death. Liberia has 59 cases, four recoveries and six deaths.

Mali with 144 cases has recorded 34 recoveries and 13 deaths. Togo has recorded 77 cases, 32 recoveries and three deaths.
