West Ham have asked about taking Chelsea winger Victor Moses on loan with a view to a £6million deal.
The Hammers have been short on width after Stewart Downing was sold in the summer, which has made coach Slaven Bilic to deplore a narrow system in the 2-0 victory over Arsenal on the opening day.
West Ham lost successive Premier League home games to Leicester and Bournemouth, and they have identified Moses as a top priority with a week of the transfer window remaining.
Moses scored four goals in 23 appearances on loan at Stoke last season, but has returned to Stamford Bridge to find his first team opportunities further restricted by the arrival of Pedro from Barcelona.

Chelsea value the 24-year-old at £10m, but the arrival of the Spain international last week could persuade Jose Mourinho to consider a loan deal involving a knock-down fee.
