We’ve seen visible reforms in Niger Delta, group commends Buhari

The people of the Niger Delta region have applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his visible reforms and development in the region through the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The president got the applause on the heels of the recently held 5th national council meeting of the Niger Delta in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital, where he was represented by Olamilekan Adegbite, minister of mine and steel development.

Also, the national council specially commended Umana Okon Umana, minister of Niger Delta Affairs, for prioritising development in the region and for the harmonised development plans of all agencies and development partners operating in the region into “the Integrated Regional Development Plan as a roadmap to accelerate development.”

While thanking the president for the unparalleled steps taken by the ministry in repositioning the NDDC in order to ensure that the commission delivers on its mandates and objectives, they appealed to the president to ensure his administration’s investments in the region commensurate with infrastructure, human capital development and other indices of human progress.

In another development, an ex-Militant and the national secretary of First Phase Ex-Agitators, Nature Dumale Kieghe, has given Umana thumbs up, saying a vote of confidence on the minister is in order considering his speedy intervention on three major road projects which he has approved to be constructed across the Niger Delta by the NDDC under his supervision.

Kieghe, who is also the chairman, strategic communications committee of Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), further commended the Niger Delta minister for promising that a white paper on the forensic audit report on NDDC would be published and anybody or company found culpable of short-changing the commission would be brought to book.
