Adebola, wife of Adigun Agbaje, former deputy vice-chancellor (academics) of the University of Ibadan, has asked the federal government to intervene in the rescue of her husband.
Agbaje was abducted alongside other persons on Saturday after gunmen invaded the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The abductors were later said to have made contact with Agbaje’s family, demanding N50 million ransom.
Speaking on the ransom in an interview with NAN on Sunday, Agbaje’s wife described the incident as a “mishap”, saying she believes her husband wasn’t targeted.

“I wouldn’t think he was targeted. I think it was a mishap because he was not the only one captured that day,” NAN qouted Agbaje as saying.
“There was a bus and some cars. All the people there were apprehended and taken to their hideout.
“And they are demanding a huge sum of money. What they are demanding for, the gratuity I am expecting for 35 years work for the government is not even up to half of their demand.

“Nigeria needs a rethink because daily, the country is going deep down in destruction. We are still negotiating and begging for the release of my husband.”
