Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says he does not regret supporting Bola Tinubu to become president.
Wike spoke on Thursday during a thanksgiving service organised by members of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) in Ahoada East LGA of the state.
In the buildup to the 2023 presidential election, Wike, who was governor of Rivers at the time, solicited votes for Tinubu — abandoning Atiku Abubakar, flagbearer of the PDP.
Tinubu, who would go on to win the general election, polled 231,591 votes in Rivers while Atiku secured 88,468 votes.

At the thanksgiving service, Wike promised to support Tinubu all over again if the opportunity presented itself.
“I have no regrets. I have no apologies. If the opportunity comes, I will do the same thing,” he said.
On May 3, 2023, just days before his swearing-in, Tinubu said he could not have won the presidential election without Wike’s support.

“I couldn’t have done it without some structural support you gave me which I can’t describe or repay,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu would later appoint Wike as minister of the FCT.
During his media chat on Monday, Tinubu commended Wike for his development efforts in the FCT.
“He is a good man. Nyesom Wike is a performing minister. Nigerians lack compliance, period,” Tinubu said, when asked if Wike was a liability to his government given the controversy that has trailed some of the demolitions in the nation’s capital city.
