Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has suspended four commissioners, without disclosing the reason behind the action.
Also affected were the head of service and the governor’s special adviser on lands.
Simeon Nwakaudu, special assistant to the governor on electronic media, announced this in a statement, saying the suspension would take effect for three months.
According to Nwakaudu, the affected commissioners are: John Bazia, chieftaincy affairs; Tonye Briggs-Oniyide, culture and tourism; Fred Kpakol, finance; and Boma Iyaye, sports.

Others affected were Rufus Godwin, the head of service, and Anugbun Onuoha, special Adviser on lands.
This is not the first time that Wike would take disciplinary action against members of his cabinet.
