Wike: We’ll disgrace those who snatch mandate

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, says all the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers of the state who lost at the courts will return to “disgrace those who think they can steal the people’s mandate”.

Addressing his supporters in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Wike described the nullification of his election as a temporary setback, saying the will of God will prevail at the end of the day.

He vowed to resist any attempt to use security personnel to intimidate the people of the state.

“We shall return all our national assembly members and disgrace those who think they will snatch the mandate of the people,” he said.

“I want to warn, let nobody attempt to do what happened in Bayelsa state here. Since they said   they have annulled the elections, let them come and conduct fresh elections,” he said.

“Let nobody think that they can use soldiers and policemen to intimidate us. We will resist any such attempt. We have maintained our cool for a long time.  Our calmness should not be mistaken as a sign of weakness.”

On Wednesday, the appeal court upheld the ruling of the tribunal, which annulled Wike’s election and ordered that a fresh poll be conducted within 90 days.
