Meta: Just last month, Arsenal looked almost certain to win the Premier League. Will they be in a better position to win next year? Find out here.
In early March 2023, it looked all but certain that league leaders Arsenal would win the English Premier League for the first time in twenty years. Now, with just two games to go, it’s looking very unlikely.
The question being asked here is, if they don’t win the current 2022/23 Premier League campaign, will they be in a better position to win the league next year? Find out more right here.
Where did it all go wrong for Arsenal?
After losing 3-1 to Manchester City in mid-February, the Gunners bounced back to win seven of their next Premier League games, beating Aston Villa 4-2, Bournemouth 3-2, Fulham 3-0, Crystal Palace 4-1, and Leeds United 4-1.
It was after this game where it all started going wrong for Arsenal, drawing their next three league games (2-2 with Liverpool, 2-2 with West Ham, and 3-3 with Southampton) before LOSING their next match, once again to Manchester City, but this time 4-1. In comparison, Manchester City have won their last 14 games.
How does the league look today?
At the time of writing, Manchester City are currently at the top of the Premier League with 85 points after 35 games played, with one game in hand of Arsenal. The Gunners are in second place with 81 points after 36 games played.

Manchester City’s upcoming fixtures
Manchester City’s most recent Premier League fixtures included one home game and two upcoming away games:
● Sunday, May 21st – Manchester City were at home at the Etihad Stadium against Chelsea in a 16:00 kick-off
● Wednesday, May 24th – Manchester City travel away to the American Express Community Stadium to play Brighton in a 20:00 kick-off

Manchester City also still have to play Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3rd and Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final on June 10th.
If they can win all three (the English Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League), they will be the first English club to do so since Manchester United achieved this feat back in 1998/99.
Will Arsenal make any big changes before the start of the 2023/24 season?
The most likely scenario is that the upcoming transfer window for Arsenal will be fairly hectic, and this means some players will be leaving, and others will be joining the North London club.
Some of the biggest names that have been linked with moves away from their clubs to join Arsenal are Declan Rice (defensive midfielder) from West Ham United. There has also been recent talk surrounding a potential move for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo (midfielder).
Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested in signing Moises Caicedo (a full-back/wing-back that’s currently on loan to Bayern Munich from Manchester City). We will just have to wait and see who comes and goes over the coming weeks as the transfer window opens and heats up.
