Lucy Samuel, a 29-year-old woman, who resides in Ejigbo, a surburb of Lagos, was on Thursday charged to a Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting her 13-year-old stepdaughter.
The girl had confided in her stepmother that her father usually forced her to have sex with him in her absence.
In anger, Lucy inflicted pains on the girl by inserting knife in the girl’s private parts and buttocks.
Mrs Abimbola Owolabi, teacher of the 13-year-old girl, who noticed that the girl was usually uncomfortable in class, discovered the wounds on her body and took up the matter, leading to the arrest of Lucy.

The prosecutor, Insp. Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the accused and her husband conspired and assaulted the 13-year-old on April 6.
Agoi noted that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 243 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Mrs Kikelomo Ayeye, the Chief Magistrate, granted a bail of N100, 000 with two sureties to the woman, who pleaded not guilty to the charges and the case was adjourned to June 13.

This is outrageous behaviour by these so-called parents. they should have had to pay N1M !
This is EXACTLY WHY child abuse continues in society. Very few get reported and kids can’t even trust adults to help them when they try to trust someone long enough to confide in them. Isn’t it sad, in this case, that rather than harm the husband himself, the woman went after the poor, defenceless girl? And she probably wasn’t even going to do anything to stop the abuse!
