Several unions of workers in Adamawa state have endorsed Emma Fashe, national publicity secretary of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) as the state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) in Adamawa.
Among the unions which have endorsed him are the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Nigerian Union of Teachers (NULGE), and Civil Service Union.
Addressing journalists in Yola, the state capital, on Friday, Abubakar Suleiman, spokesman of NUP, said Fashe is capable of standing for the interest of workers.
He said Fashe’s stewardship as NUGLE both at the state and national level is a clear testimony that he has the capacity to attract and convince the leadership of the incoming administration of Ahmadu Fintiri to better the lots of workers .

“Fashe is a born negotiator who can navigate workers out of any difficulty situations and he believed in making people happy,” he said.
“He is not the type of leader that can sell workers interest by giving fictitious awards to a Governor that cannot pay workers.
“Fashe is the hope of Adamawa workers and I appeal to workers that want to benefit from this government to vote Fashe.”

Suleiman who described other candidates vying for the office as contracts seekers, challenged Jeremiah Ngyakwar, serving NLC chairman, to explain why leave grants of state workers and local governments salaries were not paid for several months without labour reacting..
He wondered why Ngyakwar who will be retiring from service this year will be seeking reelection despite article 20 of the NLC banning such class of people from contesting elections in the union, because he would be affected by retirement.
