World Cup qualification: Eagles have to make Nigerians smile again, says Ndidi

Wilfred Ndidi says the Super Eagles have to put a smile on the faces of Nigerians by qualifying for the World Cup.

Ndidi said the home defeat to South Africa was a reality check to the Super Eagles.

He said the team will rise to the occasion in the vital FIFA 2018 World Cup qualification matches against Cameroon, but added that the reigning African champions are a strong side.

“On the South African game, we have to learn from our mistakes from that game,” Ndidi told TheCable.

“It all depends on us to go out there against Cameroon to give our best and put a smile back on the faces of Nigerians.

The Leicester City midfielder said Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup depends on the effort invested by the players.

He said: “We will try our best. Cameroon is a very good team but it depends on us.

“We have to work hard to get the points, home and away. If we get a win at home and a draw away, then it is comfortable and it’s fair.

“But it all depends on we the players to make everything work out for us. World Cup is a massive tournament that is very important in the career of every player.”
