Yahaya Bello hosts Halima Musa, first female air commodore from Kogi

Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, on Monday, hosted Halima Musa, the first female officer to attain the rank of air commodore in the air force from the state.

Musa is the second female officer to attain that rank in the country. Habibah Ruth Garba is Nigeria’s first female air commodore.

While receiving her at the government house in Kogi, Bello said the top ranking officer has made the state and the country proud.

The governor said women have contributed meaningfully to the development of the country and should be given room to do more.

He said citizens from Kogi have contributed to the success of the military and that Musa has just “opened another beautiful chapter in the history of Kogi”.

The governor also used the opportunity to congratulate Kogi indigenes who were recently promoted to the positions of major-general, brigadier-general and air commodore.

In December, J.D Omali, W. Shaibu, M.T Durowaiye and J.A.L Jimoh were promoted to the position of major-general.

O. Adegbe, M. Isah, O.O Yakubu, R.S Omolori, G.O Olorunyomi, A. Jimoh, S. Umaru and O. J Majebi were promoted to the position of brigadier-general.

Gowon Sule was promoted to the position of air commodore.
