Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, has announced the reinstatement of five cabinet members who resigned to contest for the governorship ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Monday, Ayoade Folashade, secretary to the state government (SSG), said the key officials were subjected to an inquiry by the state’s assembly before their formal reinstatement.
She said Jibrin Momoh, former accountant general; Jamiu Abdulkarim-Asuku, former chief of staff to the governor; Yakubu Okala, former auditor-general; Idris Asiru, former commissioner for finance and Momodu Ozigi-Deedat, the former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, were all reinstituted.
“The office of the governor of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, has officially announced the immediate reinstatement of five key officials in the state,” she said.

“We trust that the reinstatement of these officials will further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the state government in delivering its mandate to the people of Kogi.”
On April 15, TheCable reported that Ahmed Ododo was elected as the governorship candidate of the APC in Kogi, after scoring 78, 704 votes to beat six other contestants.
Ododo, the former local government auditor-general in the state, is believed by many to be the preferred candidate of Yahaya Bello in the election.
