Yakubu Abdullahi has presented his letters of credence to Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, as the Nigerian ambassador to the country.
The presentation took place on Wednesday at the emir’s palace in the capital city of Doha.
Abdullahi was one of the 42 career ambassadors nominated by Buhari in May 2020.
The ambassador, in a statement issued by the Nigerian embassy in Doha, expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy of appointment as principal envoy to Qatar.

The Emir of Qatar congratulated the Nigerian ambassador and expressed optimism that he will build on the cordial relations which Qatar and Nigeria enjoy.
The emir also wished the envoy the very best in the discharge of his responsibilities.
In his remarks, Abdullahi informed the emir that the Buhari administration is making progress in key priority areas that have the potentials to positively transform the socio-economic landscape of the country.

He thanked the monarch for accepting him as ambassador to Qatar, and while acknowledging the role of brokering peaceful settlement of international disputes that Qatar plays, he expressed admiration for the wise leadership qualities of the emir in bringing about development.
On bilateral relations, the new ambassador observed the slow pace of economic activities between the two countries, explaining that one of his major mandates is to improve on developmental activities for the benefit of the two nations.
He, therefore, sought the support of the emir in the eradication of all obstacles hindering the flow of investment from Qatar in the areas of agriculture, oil and gas, infrastructure and mining.
