The country’s single-day count of COVID-19 cases stayed on the low side on Saturday — with 51 new infections confirmed in five states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the new positive samples in its update for April 24.
Yobe was top of the list with 19 new infections, followed by Lagos with 17 positive samples, and Rivers with eight cases.
Other states that recorded new infections are FCT (4), Akwa Ibom (2) and Bayelsa (1).

For the 12th consecutive day, the NCDC reported zero death from COVID-19 complications on Saturday.
This keeps the total coronavirus casualty figure in the country since the beginning of the pandemic at 2,061.
Also, 44 patients were discharged on Saturday after recovering from the infection, raising the total number of recoveries to 154,687.

Since the country’s index case of coronavirus on February 27, 2020, a total of 164,684 cases have been confirmed across the country.
