Yobe to hold fundraiser to improve education sector

Yobe government says it will hold a fundraiser to improve the standard of education in the state.

In a statement on Monday, Idi Gubana, deputy governor of the state, said the fundraising exercise is scheduled to take place on February 10.

TheCable had reported on November 9 that Yobe government inaugurated a 21-member committee to raise funds for the education sector.

Gubana said the event will take place at Lady Kwali Hall at Sheraton Hotel in Abuja.

According to him, Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe, expressed his commitment to improving the quality of education and reviving the educational infrastructure in the state.

Gubana said the event will be attended by Ahmed Lawan, the president of the senate.

He added that Dahiru Mangal, founder of Max Airline, will be the chief launcher while Babagana Kingibe, special envoy to the president, will be the chairman of the event.

Other dignitaries to attend the event include, Bukar Ibrahim, former senator representing Yobe east; Ibrahim Gaidam, senator representing Yobe east; Ibrahim Bomai, senator of Yobe south; Adamu Adamu, minister for education; Muhammad Bello, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); Yobe state council of traditional rulers and Muhammad Abali, Emir of Fika, among others.
