The Lagos state government on Tuesday warned motorists violators of traffic laws that they risk three-year imprisonment.
Adeniji Kazeem, the state’s attorney general and commissioner for justice, said the government would not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on offenders.
Kazeem also reminded motorists that they also risk forfeiture of their vehicles to the government.
He said the ministry of justice, through the mobile courts, would intensify effort to prosecute the lawlessness of unruly motorists in order to restore sanity on Lagos roads.

According to him, the development is in line with the directive given by Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, to curb the lawlessness of some motorists.
The attorney general listed various traffic violations such as disobeying traffic control personnel and assault on their person, parking on yellow line, use of bus rapid transit (BRT) route by unauthorised vehicles, among others as offences that would be strictly prosecuted.
He, therefore, advised members of the public to be law abiding and co-operate with traffic officials in ensuring compliance and sanity on the roads.
