‘You’re a true party man, rescind your decision’ — Ondo PDP rejects spokesperson’s resignation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo has rejected the resignation of Kennedy Peretei, its publicity secretary.

Peretei had on Wednesday submitted his resignation to the party at Arogbo ward 1 in Ese Odo LGA, citing “selfish leadership” as the reason.

He claimed that the party leadership in Ondo is not interested in winning elections, adding that PDP in the state is “currently leaving the intensive care unit for the morgue”.

Bakitta Bello, chairman of the PDP caretaker committee in Ondo, spoke on Friday when he led other party leaders to visit Peretei in Akure, the state capital.

Bello said the party leadership was dissatisfied with Peretei’s reasons for resigning, insisting that no situation within the state’s PDP justified such a drastic decision.

“Yes, you have the right to feel offended if you need to, but you must also understand as an experienced politician that a combination of factors are always responsible for any particular action or resolution of a political party,” the chairman said.

“You are a true party man, and that is the reason we have come to make you change your mind.

“You have to rescind your decision to quit the party because we are not accepting your resignation letter.”
