Zabarmari killings: Lawan leads FG delegation to Borno

Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Monday led a federal government delegation on a condolence visit to Borno over the killings in the state.

Ola Awoniyi, his special adviser on media, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

According to statement, the delegation is in the state on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari to commiserate with the families of those killed by Boko Haram.

Over 40 rice farmers were killed in an attack by the insurgents at Zabarmari in Jere local government area of Borno state on Saturday.

The farmers were killed at Kwashabe village, about 20 kilometers north of Maiduguri, Borno capital.

Buhari had described the killing as insane while calling on the armed forces to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Some members of the delegation include Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to the president; Mohammed Bello, minister of FCT; Isa Pantami, minister of communication and digital economy; Babagana Monguno, national security adviser, and Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman.

  1. This country Nigeria is weird. Nothing has changed. How many times the FG,led delegations to one or the other part of the country on a condolence visit.To add insult to injury them delegation will arrive well dressed,nice very expensive shoes,suits, agbada), etc etc …….
    The situation in Nigeria is like a roller coaster, then afterwards another killing,kidnapping will happen,the FG will send not the senate president as being done now, the speaker of the house on another visit, it goes on and on, …. it’s a disgrace.
