Zaidu Sanusi, Super Eagles defender, has damaged his left knee’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which may rule him out of the season.
The development was announced on the X page of Porto FC, his club, on Sunday.
The club added that the 26-year-old also ruptured the “external lateral ligament” of the same knee according to medical checkups.

The recovery from ACL often takes at least five to nine months for elite athletes.
Sanusi was a member of the Super Eagles team that won silver at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
The team lost 2-1 to the hosts in the final played at the Olympic Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on February 11. Sanusi played 86 minutes of the match before being subbed off for Joe Aribo.
Members of the Eagles squad were conferred with the national award of Member of the Order of Niger (MON) by President Bola Tinubu.

The president also granted a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a flat to each of them for their feat in Cote d’Ivoire.
