Zainab Ahmed, Clement Agba test negative for coronavirus

Zainab Ahmed, the minister of state for finance, budget and national planning, have tested negative for the coronavirus.

The ministry also said Clement Agba, the minister of state for finance, budget and national planning, also tested negative for the virus.

Both ministers were tested after coming in contact with persons that had tested positive for COVID-19.

“I am grateful for negative #Covid19 test results & appreciate your concerns & prayers. I urge all of us to practice social distancing, wash our hands & use sanitizers as frequently as possible to help put an end to this global pandemic,” Ahmed wrote on Twitter.

On Monday, TheCable reported that Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president, tested positive for the disease.

The COVID-19 status of Kyari led to suggestions that other members of the federal executive council (FEC) should take precaution.

Ahmed had also attended the national economic council meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and state governors in attendance.

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi state, also tested positive for the virus.

As part of efforts to contain the spread, the federal government suspended the federal executive council meeting with Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, saying the presidential villa in Abuja is on partial lockdown.

Asishana Okauru, director-general of the Nigeria Governors Forum, announced that he had embarked on self-isolation with his wife after coming in contact with the Bauch state governor.
