Abdulaziz Yari, governor of Zamfara state, has resolved his face-off with members of the state house of assembly, who commenced impeachment proceedings against him last month.
In an interview with journalists on Sunday, Yari described the plot to oust him as “the handiwork of the devil”.
“The cause of the misunderstanding was addressed at the meeting and we have now agreed to put aside our differences and work together for the advancement of our state,” he said.
Sanusi Rikiji, speaker of the assembly, who was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the height of the crisis, also said the issues had been settled.

Rikiji disclosed this on Sunday after a meeting attended by some stakeholders in Gusau, the state capital.
The stakeholders included the governor, all the 24 members of the assembly and some traditional rulers.
The traditional rulers were led by Attahiru Muhammad, emir of Anka, who is also the chairman of the state council of chiefs.

The speaker told reporters that the lawmakers gave the governor terms and conditions before they agreed to halt the impeachment.
He said that the intervention of traditional rulers and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, helped in addressing the issues.
The legislators had accused Yari of abusing the 2016 budget implementation, and misappropriating bailout funds released to the state.
Others allegations by the lawmakers included deductions in workers’ salaries and failure to pay the salaries of 1, 400 youths which the government employed two years ago.
