Zuma, ex-South African president, loses son

Former President Jacob Zuma and his family are in a state of mourning following the death of Vusi Zuma, son of the ex-president.

Vusi reportedly died at the Milpark hospital in Johannesburg.

According to reports, Vusi, who was the youngest son of Zuma and his late wife, Kate Mantsho, who committed suicide in 2000, died on Sunday night after a short illness.

Vukile Mathabela, the media liaison at the presidency, said details of Vusi’s death would be released later in the day, once a family spokesperson is appointed.

Visu was 25 years old.

His siblings include Zuma twins, Duduzane and Duduzile.

Former President Zuma is known to have 23 children with six wives, the eldest 10 coming from his former wives, the late Kate Mantsho and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

His children are mostly involved in politics, the private sector and the entertainment industry, the most infamous being Duduzane Zuma.

After nine years in power, Zuma resigned on February 14, when his party, African National Congress, asked him to step down due to corruption scandals.

Following his resignation, he was arraigned in a South African court on charges bothering on fraud, racketing and  money laundering relating to a multi-billion dollar arms deal.

However, Zuma claims the charges against him were politically motivated.
