Nigerians on Twitter are commenting on the sacking of Salihu Tanko-Yakasai by Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state.
Tanko-Yakasai, Ganduje’s media aide, was sacked for criticising President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tanko-Yakasai while reacting to the abduction of students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata-Mafara local government area of Zamfara, said the All Progressives Congress-led government has failed Nigerians.
Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign. https://t.co/L5YCvik1Eb

Below are some reactions on Twitter to this development.

Dawisu stood with Ganduje when it was impossible to. Today, whilst still missing, that same Ganduje just fired him. Wisdom is profitable to direct.

No way Dawisu wasn’t expecting a sack, because he was suspended for same. One thing I’m sure about is that Ganduje shares these opinions in private

And now Ganduje sacked Dawisu despite his mysterious disappearance. #FreeDawisu

Ganduje needed to show Abuja that his loyalty to Buhari remains intact, so he traded Dawisu to prove that. The same Dawisu that stood with Ganduje against everyone who came for him and even against reason at times. Dispensed with, whilst missing.

Dawisu stuck his neck out for Ganduje when the whole world was against him, now when it’s time to return the favor Ganduje just used him as sacrificial lamb to seal his loyalty to Asorock.
Shame! #FreeDawisuNowAdvertisement— Naufal Ahmad Sr. (@9aufal) February 27, 2021
Ganduje fired dawisu whilst he’s still missing. These politicians don’t even pretend to care about those who defend them.
Shame.

This Dawisu guy was always quick to defend ganduje in everything and yet no official statement about his arrest from @KanostateNg but now report saying they relieved his appointment as S.A to the governor….very sad and unfortunate.

Whether Ganduje Sack dawisu or not he has said the truth about rot & hypocrisy & failure in APC govt at all levels. He’ll be very happy with his conscience for not been complicit in such heightened killing of innocent Nigerian citizens by in the watch of federal Govt #FreeDawisu

Ganduje has now sacked his media aide @dawisu for speaking up against the blatant uselessness of APC in handling insecurity and banditry.
This is absolutely distasteful.
Nigerian leaders prefer sycophants and shoe shiners rather than true aides who speak truth to their madness.

He tweeted this & he was arrested this morning & just now, he has been sacked as an aide to Gov. Ganduje.
What a country. pic.twitter.com/kSza8AC0kS

Dawisu was relieved of his position by Ganduje & arrested by the DSS simply for speaking against bad governance. I could remember when he vilified HR Sanusi II for speaking too much, Today, he’s also a victim of failed govt… But the Truth will always remain a Truth #FreeDawisu

Governor Ganduje bows to pressure sack his special adviser on media Tanko, for challenging the president on insecurity.
— Roland Agabi, (@rogreski) February 27, 2021
The fact that Ganduje was able to surmount his bribery allegations in the face of hard facts shows he owed Buhari one.@dawisu thank you. History will forever be kind to you.
— Ekechi Sean Nnadozie (@Puff_) February 27, 2021
Never be too loyal that you end up betraying yourself. The case of Ganduje sacking Dawisu, despite all the heat Dawisu took to protect his principal is another reaso why I want to stay away farr from politics.
— Lynx (@bash_muk) February 27, 2021
Ganduje sacking Dawisu is the right thing to do but not the best time for it. He should have waited when dawisu has been located.
I hope dawisu will be release soon and in good health so that he can continue to criticize the government.#FreeDawisuNow

This great Nation is under a heavy and terrible siege. These are clear signs that there are powerful forces, internal and external, collaborating to disintegrate Nigeria. Mr President MUST act on intelligence reports and move against the conspirators. All of us are shouting and we are right but we are sufficiently knowledgeable enough to know that Nigeria is under a heavy siege. We cannot confront this threat to our sovereignty by trading blames.
The governor is right to sack him because he’s not in the system to criticize it. He should have left the system to criticize it. On the other hand he should not be arrested because we are in democracy he has a right to his opinions outside the system.
